Executive Leadership – Rodney L. Piatt, President 

Rodney L. Piatt is President of Horizon Properties Group which he founded in 1996 and Horizon Hospitality LLC in 2010. Mr. Piatt currently holds a number of business leadership positions including Director of Accutrex Products, Inc.; Vice President of Oakmont Country Club; and President of Southpointe Golf Club.

Past business leadership associations:

From 2003 to 2017, Mr Piatt served as a board member of Mylan with his final role as the Vice Chairman and Lead Independent Director of Mylan, Inc. (MYL-Nasdaq);

From 1979 to 1996, Mr. Piatt served as President and Director of Millcraft Industries, a multidimensional company primarily focused on the steel and real estate industries.

From 1974 to 1979, Mr. Piatt was with Ernst & Ernst. Mr. Piatt received a Bachelors of Science in accounting degree from the University of Tampa in 1974. He is a certified public accountant in Pennsylvania and a past member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Executive Leadership – Gina Johnston, Vice President

Gina is the Vice President of Horizon Hospitality LLC.  She plays a key role in the development of new hotel properties, their ongoing operations, property finances and the sales and marketing of the current portfolio of hotel properties.  Her goal is to consistently provide a first class facility and hire talented employees that focus on providing outstanding guest services.

Prior to joining Horizon Hospitality, Gina was the General Manager for an upscale Golf and Tennis Resort in Port St. Lucie, Florida for ten years.  She has also assisted in the management of our affiliated Southpointe Golf Club, a private golf club in Southpointe, Pennsylvania.

Gina has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Auburn University where she was a member of the women’s golf and track teams.  She went on to play professional golf for a few years before starting her family.

Executive Leadership – Doug Brewster, Director of Operation

Doug is the Director of Operation for Horizon Hospitality LLC. Doug has enjoyed a successful career in the hotel industry since 1995 when he started as a laundry attendant with the Holiday Inn.  In 1999, Doug was promoted to Assistant General Manager for Marriott in Memphis, Tennessee and was promoted to General Manager after 6 months of service.  Doug left Memphis, home of the world’s best barbecue in 2002 for Orlando, Florida for an opportunity to open a Homewood Suites by Hilton property.  At this time, Doug was with Buffalo Lodging Associates.  While a General Manager with Buffalo Lodging Associates, Doug opened several hotel properties for them.  During 2007, Doug joined the Horizon Hospitality family of hotels and opened the Hampton Inn & Suites Pittsburgh-Meadow Lands.  In September, 2009, Doug opened the Homewood Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh-Southpointe property for Horizon Hospitality. As Horizon branched into Choice Hotel properties in 2010 Doug opened several hotels and in 2015 he was promoted to Director of Operations.

Doug is a 1999 graduate of Wright State University, in Dayton, Ohio.  Doug is also active in the Washington County community and enjoys traveling and spending time with his three children.  In addition, Doug is an avid and skilled golfer and one of The Ohio State Buckeye’s biggest fans.

Executive Leadership – Stacy Newmaster, Corporate Human Resources Manager

Stacy Newmaster is the Corporate Human Resources Manager for Horizon Hospitality, LLC. Stacy has 20 plus years of experience in the Human Resources discipline working with hospitality and food service leaders such as Interstate Hotels and Resorts, Carlson Hotels Worldwide and ARAMARK Corporation. Her experience includes benefits administration, property acquisitions, labor relations, workers’ compensation and employee development and retention. Stacy’s knowledge provides our company and managed hotels with a solid work environment and business ethic that promotes growth of our employees within the company. Her goal is to keep well informed regarding the many changing laws and procedures that relate to the hospitality industry and insure that each of our properties are always in compliance. Stacy is a member of the national Society of Human Resources Management organization.

Stacy has a Bachelors of Science degree in Office Administration/Sytems from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She spends most of her free time with her husband and two children doing family activities. They enjoy watching Pittsburgh sports teams and love the outdoors.

Executive Leadership – Yvonne Covelli, Corporate Controller

Yvonne Covelli is the corporate controller for Horizon Hospitality, LLC. With over 17 years of hotel experience, she plays a vital role in the company. Yvonne manages the accounting department and generates their financial statements; with attention to detail and strong analytical strengths, she consistently manages the companies’ accounts.

Prior to joining Horizon Hospitality, LLC, Yvonne served as Corporate Accounting Manager of a Twinsburg, Ohio-based Hospitality Company where she managed several mid to high-end hotels and restaurants for 15 years. Progressing through the ranks with a series of promotions, Yvonne was promoted to the corporate office in Ohio. There she facilitated the conversion of their hotels to a centralized accounting platform.

Yvonne has built a strong repertoire in the industry; having majored in business and accounting, she is enthusiastic and determined. Focusing on timeliness, efficiency and consistency, Yvonne is a dedicated professional who loves to leverage her experience to help her colleagues. She enjoys training others by utilizing her communication skills to achieve results for a job well done.

As a mother and grandmother, she enjoys an active lifestyle with hobbies that include reading, running in the great outdoors or riding her mountain bike and enjoying the fresh air.

Executive Leadership – Joshua Morgan, Director of Technology and Infrastructure

Joshua Morgan is the Director of Technology & Infrastructure for Horizon Hospitality LLC. Joshua started his career in the technology industry in 2003 at Duquesne University as a Technology Buyer with promotions to System Administrator, I & II; where he later earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Leadership with a major in Computer System. In 2003 during his first year in his career Joshua and a friend won 1st prize in the Microsoft 2003 Server Global Challenge for work they did on summer project. In 2012 Joshua left Duquesne University in 2013 after 9 years of service to work for global steel manufacturer as a SCCM Deployment Engineer. After 2.5 years of learning how global organization manages technology on a massive scale, he left to join the Horizon family to oversee and direct technology for our existing and future projects as our Director of Technology & Infrastructure. In the spring of 2017 Joshua became a member of Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP®), and in the fall of 2017 he earned the CHTP, Certified Hospitality Technology Professional, designation.

Joshua is an Eagle Scout Rank and part of the 1999 Alumni Class, Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor Class of 2000, and Recipient of the 2001 Order of the Arrow Founders Award. Joshua is a loving Husband, devoted Father of 3, and actively involved with his church. When Joshua is not performing his magic on technology; he enjoys camping and traveling with his family, photography, cooking for friends and loved ones, and is currently learning to golf.
